The event of the 2025 National Karate Championship began on Friday morning, February 6, 2026, at the Boat Roof Hall of the Phnom Penh Royal University and is scheduled to end on Sunday, February 8.

According to the report from Mr. Dek Phearak, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia Karate Federation, this year’s competition features 27 martial arts schools, associations, and clubs, 176 male athletes, 158 female athletes, 59 coaches, 31 leading delegates, 24 officials, 15 referees, and judges, for a total of 463 persons.

In the 2024 National Championship, there were only 352 participants, so the participation in the 2025 championship has increased by 111 persons.

There are two disciplines: Kata and Kumite, which are divided into 66 sub-disciplines and are divided by age group from 8 to 32 years old. Notably, this year, the category for children aged 8 to 9 has been added for the first time. Mr. Dek Phearak emphasized that the addition of a smaller age limit is the preparation for the 2031 Asian Youth Games, when Cambodia will host the Asian Youth Games.

H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the Cambodia Karate Federation, and is the high representing to H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, President of the Federation, urged the youth to strive to strengthen their physical and mental abilities to move towards a prosperous future.
